Job Posting: Telephone Fundraiser / Development Assistant

Force of Nature is a non-profit organization accelerating our transition to a post-carbon future in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. We are seeking a passionate and experienced telephone fundraiser and development assistant to build a monthly donor base that will support our work electing environmental champions and fighting for ambitious climate targets in Metro Vancouver’s municipalities.

Job Duties

The 30-hour per week position involves 16 hours of telephone fundraising, and 14 hours per week of management, administration, donor stewardship and other fundraising work. We are also open to receiving applications from candidates who are available for 8-16 hours per week of telephone fundraising only.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the telephone fundraiser / development assistant will:

  • Effectively telephone fundraise from Force of Nature supporter lists to a standard of $20.00 annualized per hour
  • Assist with interviews, hiring and administration for telephone fundraisers
  • Manage and participate in nightly phonebank: prepare scripts and training materials, provide training, support and supervision on an ongoing basis, complete administrative duties, ensure tracking of phonebank metrics and report back to managing director
  • Seasonal telephone, email and in-person fundraising from existing small, mid-range and major donors
  • Recognize, thank, and maintain ongoing relationships with Force of Nature donors
  • Organize and track all donor activity in Nationbuilder database
  • Assist with grant-writing upon request
  • Perform related administration, research and writing tasks as required.

Required Skills

  • 1-2 years professional direct fundraising experience required. Must feel comfortable and demonstrate competence effectively fundraising from Force of Nature supporters over the telephone.
  • Interest in environmental policy, community building and campaigning. Sincere passion for environmental advocacy, community organizing and climate action required.
  • Experience managing or supervising staff or volunteers is an asset
  • Must be a quick and competent learner, capable of multi-tasking and keeping track of multiple projects and action items simultaneously, and able to consistently track and report on metrics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
