Position: Fundraising Manager
Organization: Wildlife Conservation Society of Canada
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Some people call it wilderness; to you, it’s always felt like home.

You’ve always felt a deep connection to the outdoors and wildlife, and an unwavering conviction that wild creatures and spaces need to be protected.

Your work has revolved around fund-raising, and you’d love to find a way to work for the good of the planet. We’ve been looking for you.

We’re Wildlife Conservation Society Canada, a uniquely Canadian charity and part of a global conversation network. We do the boots-on-the-ground science work, tracking wildlife and studying ecosystems from Whitehorse to Labrador. We also bring our research to governments and agencies to inform their conservation plans and policies.

It’s a tall order to save the world. If you’re up to it, we want to hear from you.

Fundraising Manager

Your primary responsibility here will be to increase the sources and flow of funds into WCS, so we can continue and expand our important work. As we grow, we’ll look to you to be an integral part of our fundraising team.

You’ll spend most of your time developing and running our regular donor program. You’ll start and foster relationships with mid-sized donors who will give annually or monthly to support our operations. You’ll also pursue grants, and help shape the stories our field staff share with the public.

We’re currently building and strengthening the fundraising systems and processes that we have in place. Your elite-level organizational skills will make you an integral part of this effort, refining our current set up, and introducing new elements to make our whole operation better.

We know what we need; we’d love to hear how your fund-raising skill set can contribute to the mission in ways beyond the job description. We want to give you the freedom to contribute and bring your whole self to bear on our operation.

The Right Fit

Who you are matters to us as much as your skills and experience. You’ll be the right fit if you have these attributes:

  • Integrity – you live out the values we share, and you do the things you say you’ll do every time.
  • Passion – you can’t imagine life without a deep and regular connection to wildlife and wild places. You’re energized by the thought of working every day for their protection.
  • Elite communication skills - you can talk about conservation enthusiastically, intelligently, and with integrity to a variety of audiences.
  • Creativity – you face complex problems with resourcefulness, leaning on your experience and the people around you to turn challenges into opportunities.
  • Positivity - you believe that you can make a difference.
  • An analytical mind – you’re comfortable getting elbow-deep in fundraising data, to find new insights and possibilities.

Working @ WCS

This is a full-time permanent position working out of our office in mid-town Toronto. Salary will be between $60,000 and $70,000 commensurate with experience. We offer benefits, RRSP matching, and opportunities for professional development.

We are a family-friendly workplace, recognizing that everyone has different needs for flexibility depending on what stage of life they’re in. We offer that flexibility, knowing that it only makes our people more engaged.

By now, you should be picking up that passion for the mission is important to us. It drives everything we do, and it ties us together as a team. This mission requires well-equipped people, so we’ve prioritized the personal and professional growth of our team. If this opportunity excites you, then we can’t wait to meet you.
