Position: Development Assistant, Institutional Giving

The Position

Reporting to Stand’s Development Director, the Development Assistant, Institutional Giving is responsible for providing project management and administrative support to Stand’s institutional Giving program staff, including Stand’s Development Director and Associate Director of Institutional Giving. The Development Assistant, Institutional Giving is also responsible for submitting all proposals and grant reports, proofreading and formatting documents, preparing attachments, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements. The Development Assistant, Institutional Giving also writes cover letters and composes other types of correspondence to funders and manages foundation-related databases.

Stand’s large portfolio of foundation funders and dedicated program staff provide a rare opportunity for individuals who are interested in part-time work and who have an interest in frontline environmental campaigning with a global impact. This is a 32-hour non-exempt position with excellent benefits. The pro-rated annual salary range for this position is $28,000-$40,000 (or $16.75-$24 per hour) based on experience and location. Although the hub of development operations are located in Stands’ San Francisco office, remote applicants who work in the Pacific time zone are encouraged to apply.


  • Play lead role in monitoring and maintaining the integrity of the foundation program’s systems and database records
  • Work as a part of Stand’s institutional Giving team to coordinate all foundation program submissions including: proofread and format documents, prepare attachments, and ensure compliance with funder requirements
  • Manage grant and contract administration, including timely submission of invoices to third party vendors
  • Administer gift acknowledgement processes
  • Compose cover letters and other correspondence to funders
  • Support foundation prospect research activities and maintain up-to-date information on Stand’s foundation portfolio through database administration
  • Provide administrative and project support to the Development Director, as needed


  • Minimum of 1 year development administration or related experience
  • Organized with acute attention to detail
  • Ability to digest new information quickly
  • Strong writer with great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with managing databases
  • Excellent project management, follow-through, and time management skills
  • Independent, adept at problem-solving, self-motivated with a desire to provide support to advance Stand’s mission and related campaigns with minimal supervision
  • Experienced with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Creative Suite with the ability to create professional documents for external audiences
