Positions: Phone Fundraising & Outreach team
Organization: Wilderness Committee
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

About Wilderness Committee

The Wilderness Committee is a grassroots, people-powered, citizen-funded organization working to protect Canada's wildlife and wild places. Founded in 1980, we are a national, registered charity. Some of our current campaigns include protecting our parks from industrial activity, including logging, defending bee populations by opposing neonicotinoid pesticides, and defending our endangered species.

About Our Environmental Outreach and Fundraising Team

We are currently accepting applicants to join our Phone Outreach & Fundraising team. Our team works from their home, calling our past supporters to raise awareness about our campaigns and fundraise to support our work.

Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and good record keeping are all important assets. Above all we want to recruit passionate and enthusiastic environmentalists who share our organization's values and ideals. As we are hiring people to work from home, you would be required to have a phone to make the outgoing calls, a computer with internet access to download and upload work product using Excel & PDF, and a camera and mic on your computer for meeting with the Phone Canvass Managers.

How is working for us different?

We don't hire through third party agencies, so you'd be contracted directly by the Wilderness Committee, work with Wilderness Committee staff and gain valuable experience in the non-profit sector. Our goal is to hire people that share our passion for our issues and can communicate it to others. When we raise money people can support however they like - one-time and monthly contributions are both welcome. This is not cold calling as we are only contacting past supporters.

Pay and Hours

  • Pay is based on a band system and is between $15.20 and $46/ hour depending on performance (current average is $25/hour)
  • Shifts are 6 hours long: Monday - Friday: 3-9pm; Saturday - Sunday: 2-8pm

  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Concern for wilderness and wildlife
  • Outgoing, positive, dedicated
  • Willing to participate in ongoing education and skill-building
  • Personal phone for calling during work hours (long-distance plan is an asset)
  • Home computer with internet access along with a microphone and webcam
  • Available to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week

Please outline how you meet the qualifications in your application.
