The Land Between is hiring six summer Conservation technician positions to support conservation across cottage country. Positions are in Haliburton, Peterborough, and Lennox-Addington/Frontenac areas.
These roles support fish and wildlife research specifically related to snakes, turtles and birds at risk, and lake health; the support and facilitate landowner engagement and volunteers to become involved in species monitoring and citizen science, they involve desiging and delivering restoration and conservation projects, involve children and youth outdoor education and public interpretation and events, and they may involve using Geographic Information Systems.
Positions are for 2 or 4 months from May to July and July to Sept, with the possibility of extension.
Candidates will have at least 1 year education in Fish and Wildlife Biology, Outdoor Intepretation, and/or Geographic Information Systems; and will have an interest in wildlife research, working with children or public education. Candidates will have a Drivers Licence and own their own vehicle/have access to steady transportation. Field experience, GIS experience or camp leadership experience is an asset. Knowledge of French or Ojibwaa is an asset.
