Position: Project Coordinator
Project: Sundog Veggies Training Farm

Location: near Whitehorse, Yukon
Housing: if required, accommodation can be negotiated

Sundog Veggies is a training farm located on the traditional territories of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. We’re in our second year of production after a quick pivot from two decades as a successful northern tourism resort (#1 on TripAdvisor for 12 years). We are working together with youth and permaculture mentors to strengthen northern food security. Our goal is to help our trainees gain knowledge about farming with hands-on training.

In 2020 we had a great first harvest that we sold in local markets and donated to the Whitehorse Food Bank, our volunteers, and local Elders. We’re excited to start another amazing season working together with a community of young farmers in the Yukon.

Are you someone who loves to work with a crew and wants to help youth gain new skills? We are looking for an energetic coordinator for our educational farm program this summer. Come help on projects that will strengthen northern food security (planting/harvesting our veggies, building a greenhouse and root cellar, and more!) You’ve got leadership experience, you’re comfortable working outdoors, and you’re a good organizer… let’s talk!

Primary responsibilities:

  • Team leadership at morning and end-of-day meetings
  • Monitoring training progress and leadership development for each participant
  • Site safety coordinator
  • Coordination of curriculum development
  • Leadership and mentoring for Team Leaders
  • HR oversight to project team
  • Assisting with project proposals, reporting and communications

Position will work approximately 3 hours per day in office and 5 hours per day with experiential training on the farm. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Location is Lot 1160 Policeman’s Point Rd approx 25 min drive north of Whitehorse.

Requirements: Experience leading teams, ability to work alongside youth participants on farm labour tasks, First Aid/CPR certificate, Driver’s license

Farm or agriculture experience is an asset.

Please email to apply or inquire with any questions.

Wage range $25-$35/hr DOE

If required accommodation can be negotiated.
