Tenure-Track Position in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems
Trent University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the School of Environment at the Assistant Professor level in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems (SAFS) beginning July 1, 2017. This position is subject to budgetary approval. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Sustainable Agriculture or related discipline, a strong teaching background, and a demonstrated research record with the ability to generate research funding from NSERC/SSHRC and/or other funding agencies. Candidates will be expected to support undergraduate teaching in the growing SAFS Program and the newly established School of the Environment. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in TSE and university service.
Trent has adopted a broad definition of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems, encompassing, for example, academic study in nutrient sustainability and pollution reduction in relation to agricultural activities; impacts of atmospheric pollution and climate change on crops; novel food products, biomaterials and biofuels; heritage crops and conservation of genetic resources; sustainable pest control; use of manures, biosolids and soil amendments; agricultural policy and business and organic/sustainable farming practices. The School of the Environment offers an engaged and pedagogically innovative approach to undergraduate environmental education in Trent University's highly regarded environmental programs.
