Natural Resource, Environment and Agriculture Professionals with the BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA) are looking for a dynamic and strategic leader to be our Executive Director. BCIA is a professional association that governs the professional conduct of over 1500 members, in support of the public interest. If you are an experienced Executive Director with a passion for collaboration and development of a growing association, we are looking for you.

This position is full time at a competitive salary plus benefits.

The Executive Director position has a number of qualifications for the position.

  • Degree in business administration, public administration, natural resource management or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Experience at a senior level leading organizations and teams
  • Experience establishing collaborative relationships and leading organizational change
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change and conflict resolution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to represent the organization at senior levels and maintain contact with Branch Executives, committees and members
  • Demonstrated patience, tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, and commitment to confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to meaningfully engage with diverse volunteer groups
  • Staff management skills, and progressive experience working with, or managing, a professional organization and experience working at senior levels in organizations
  • Experience with government and corporate relations
  • Experience with and interest in technology solutions for business optimization
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate Council, and other volunteers
  • Ability to convey a vision of the BCIA’s strategic future to staff, Council, volunteers and other professional bodies
  • Experience in financial management and business planning
  • Strong public speaking and public relations skills
  • Eligible for membership in good standing with a professional association in British Columbia is desirable but not required
