Job Title: EcoTeam and Camosun Bog Restoration Group – Event Coordinator

The Pacific Spirit Park Society is a community-based volunteer organization. We work together with MetroVancouver, as a part of the Regional Park Partner Program, and hold a vision of an urban forest and foreshore park that is protected and cared for in perpetuity, for the benefit of all. Our programming centers on ecological restoration, data collection, monitoring, and environmental education, empowering community members through skills development and stewardship training.

Pacific Spirit Park Society is looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience in team leadership, environmental stewardship, education and outreach. The EcoTeam Event Coordinator will run weekly stewardship events in Pacific Spirit Regional Park, in collaboration with MetroVancouver. The suitable candidate will teach volunteers how to safely remove invasive species, plant native species, and monitor restoration projects within the park. PSPS emphasizes community stewardship and skills development for volunteers, so the suitable candidate will be able to teach volunteers best practices and valuable field skills, all the while fostering a safe and positive working environment. Contract set to begin January 2019. Position is part-time for ~8 hrs/week at a rate of $175-200/week.


  • A Bachelor’s degree in environmental science field (forestry, ecology, etc.)
  • Experience coordinating volunteers and leading volunteer events
  • Knowledge of ecological restoration and/or urban forestry
  • Experience in environmental education and outreach
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift ~50lbs, willing to work in all weather conditions
  • First Aid Certification - Level 1 (or willingness to obtain)
  • Positive attitude and interpersonal skills
  • Access to reliable vehicle and valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Must be available to work weekends (Saturday)


  • Ability to deliver programming in multiple languages
  • Knowledge of best practices for invasive species management
  • Knowledge of flora and fauna of coastal British Columbia
