Position: Camp Leader in Training
Type: full-time 9 weeks, July 4 - Sept 1

Overview: The Leaders-in-Training Specialist is responsible for the care and safety of a group of up to 10 campers aged 12-15 each session.

Objectives:

  • Creatively guides a group of 10 campers, ages 12-15, in skill and leadership building activities including, but not limited to hiking, biking, crafting, wild foraging, stewardship and cooking
  • Develop appropriate programs for the LITs, including developing a Social Enterprise Project aimed at raising money for our camp bursary funds
  • Ensure participant safety
  • Provide participants with a written evaluation at the completion of the program
  • Prepare LIT participants to facilitate camp-wide programming
  • Supervise and support the extended care program at the end of each camp day
  • Participate in end of day debriefs
  • Maintain all program areas and equipment

Reporting Relationships:

  • Supervised by: Camp Director

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience in a camp setting
  • Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C’
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Degree or Diploma in Outdoor Education or Recreation an asset
  • Previous experience developing education programs an asset

Working conditions:

  • Working outside in inclement weather
  • Standing for long periods of time

Hours of Work:

  • Available between the hours of 8:00 am and 6 pm, Mon. to Fri
  • Full-time 9 weeks, July 4 - Sept 1
  • Available for pre-camp training June 24, 26 - 29
