Role Description

We are hiring a highly self-motivated and passionate individual to join our Advisory Services team as a Junior Analyst. This individual will be responsible for preparing client deliverables such as GHG and water footprint calculations, life cycle analyses, and reports for companies and events. The Junior Analyst will also be responsible for administrative and other support tasks related to environmental projects.

The Junior Analyst will spend most of their time working directly on GHG accounting projects, and the remainder of their time supporting the Director of Advisory Services by compiling, researching, analyzing and interpreting information, and keeping up to date with changing best practices for GHG accounting. The Junior Analyst will report to the Director of Advisory Services, and work closely with other Analysts and the Marketing and Client Engagement team to support successful delivery of services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Act as an in-house subject matter expert on GHG accounting standards, registries, North American legislation and proposed mandatory reporting and cap and trade systems
  • Conduct GHG accounting and reporting for Offsetters’ clients, in adherence to Offsetters’ methodologies including GHG assessments in a variety of contexts relating to the footprints of companies, products, and events
  • Collect data from clients in relation to GHG quantification including requesting emissions data and documentation, and conducting employee surveys
  • Write, edit, organize, and manage project documents and reports
  • Support the enhancement of analytical models and tools for Advisory Services, ensuring a consistent approach and level of rigour in all GHG assessments
  • Continuously improve and update all of Offsetters’ GHG publications for our clients, and ensure they adhere to current legislation and industry best practices
  • Research and develop a variety of high quality position papers, benchmarking reports, client and public surveys, and best practices, as needed
  • Maintain a database of all internationally published GHG reports (or links), for internal learning, and potential availability to the worldwide GHG industry
  • Report to the Director of Advisory Services in regards to all consulting and research projects on a weekly basis
  • Support other team members in other duties as requested

Required Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary degree: ideally in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Interest in and understanding of climate change and environmental sciences
  • Strong skills and experience working with Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Ability to achieve objectives both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of an organization including clients and coworkers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of exceptional independent research projects from conception to completion
  • One year of analytical work experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome
  • Demonstrated experience in GHG accounting
  • GHG-IQ certification
  • Project management experience, including development of supporting tools and strong emphasis on implementation according to budgets, timelines and client expectations
  • A keen interest and awareness of key trends in industry, and the ability to communicate how these trends could potentially impact Offsetters and clients

Key Reporting Relationship

Reports to: Director, Advisory Services; works closely with Director of Clean Technology, and Marketing & Client Engagement Department
