JOB POSTING

Seeking Take Me Outside Coordinator

Position: Coordinator
Organization: Take Me Outside
Location: from home, anywhere in Canada

About Take Me Outside

Take Me Outside (TMO) is a non-profit organization committed to educating Canadians about our connection with nature. Take Me Outside works collaboratively with other organizations, school boards, and individuals to encourage children and youth to spend more time outside through various advocacy projects and initiatives.

Position Summary

TMO is seeking a dynamic, focused, and self-motivated individual who is passionate about getting kids outside. This part-time position, based anywhere in Canada, will be integral in the day to day operations of TMO and will work with the Executive Director to grow and expand TMO.

We are looking for someone with a sound knowledge of outdoor and environmental education and well-versed in the issues within this field. The ideal candidate is someone who has an understanding of how to drive a non-profit organization forward. You will use your skills to help TMO administratively, while giving input on the bigger vision for TMO and will ultimately help to drive that vision through your frontline day to day work.

Primary Responsibilities

Your primary role will be the coordination, implementation and expansion of existing TMO projects and initiatives, like Take Me Outside Day and the TMO Student Video Contest. You will play a key role in the operations of TMO by organizing and overseeing these programs but you’ll also be a face of TMO – answering emails, assisting with board meetings, and hosting booths at conferences and developing professional relationships as TMO attempts to grow and expand its reach across Canada.

Because we are a small grassroots organization and we all wear many hats, we are looking for a strong team player who is resourceful, flexible, and keen to roll their sleeves up and do whatever it takes to get the job done. Certain times of the year are busier than others so flexibility is required with number of hours put in on a weekly basis.

Experience and Qualifications

We are looking for someone with as many of the following skills, experience or qualifications as possible:

  • A deep passion for getting kids outside and off their screens
  • Experience in strategic planning and event organizing
  • Proven experience with administrative duties
  • Proven experience in communications, preferably for a non-profit organization, including using major social media platforms
  • Experience working in a self-motivated environment; good organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with board members, staff, stakeholders, and volunteers
  • Detail-oriented

Other assets or qualifications that would be helpful include:

  • Experience working within non-profit sector
  • A degree or certificate in environmental education, outdoor education or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience writing funding applications and reports
  • Experience in event coordination
  • Knowledge of French is preferred (but not mandatory)

Compensation: $28/hr (up to 18 hours/week for 10 months)

Location: TMO Coordinator can be located anywhere in Canada
