Position: Environmental Consultant

About The Opportunity

Come join our growing Kamloops practice as an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Consultant.

Do you want to play a role in integrating environmental components on a wide range of projects and finding balanced solutions to further the importance of sustainability, conservation, biodiversity, and natural processes in our work? Come talk to us!

Our team of environmental professionals provide advice and work alongside clients to incorporate sustainability and conservation principles into community initiatives. You will be contributing your skills to be in service of our clients throughout BC and beyond, as well as helping us grow our practice in these regions. You will contribute to:

  • Supporting policy, approvals, design input, process and potential solutions as it relates to the environmental components of projects
  • Technical support with data interpretation and development of reports
  • Conducting field work for hydrometrics, construction monitoring, stream assessments, fisheries assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, water quality and soils analysis
  • Technical assistance with emergency situations and non-compliance issues
  • Coordinate regulatory approvals required by local, provincial, and federal agencies. These can include changes in and about a stream approvals, notifications, land tenures, water licences, DFO Request for Reviews and other regulatory applications.
  • Collaborate with project teams to support: biophysical assessments and reporting, Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment and wetland, riparian, habitat and permanence assessments/restoration plans
  • Demonstrate a commitment to learning through the ongoing achievement of personal and professional goals
  • Be a champion for the environment and our team, within and outside of Urban Systems4

About You

Our preferred candidate will have a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology, Natural Resource Science, Environmental Science or related discipline and be eligible for registration with the BC College of Applied Biology and/or the BC Institute of Agrologists. We are looking for a recent graduate and/or up to 3 years of experience. The following skills and abilities will also be a benefit:

  • An appreciation for consulting and a drive for establishing a self-directed and collaborative practice
  • Strong technical skills which continually demonstrate capabilities as an environmental consultant
  • Desire to grow knowledge and understanding of government environmental regulatory frameworks and policies
  • Capable and enthusiastic about playing an integral role in regulatory advice and approvals, design input, and potential solutions as it relates to the environmental components of our projects
  • Ability to develop and nurture positive interpersonal relationships with people from varying backgrounds including team members, clients, and partners
  • Willing to travel to various communities in BC and other geographies of the company both to meet with clients as well as internal project teams
