The Opportunity
The Pembina Institute is a non-partisan think tank that advocates for strong, effective policies to support Canada’s clean energy transition. Through research, consulting and convening, we employ highly collaborative approaches to reduce the environmental impacts of energy production and use. This is a pivotal moment and it’s all hands-on deck here. We’re searching for a Senior Director, Communities and Decarbonization to play an instrumental role overseeing strategic planning and driving policy development to increase the Pembina Institute’s regional and national influence.
The Position
Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, this senior leadership position is focused on achieving the Pembina Institute’s organizational objective to implement policies that will result in the decarbonization of Canada’s transportation and building sectors in line with Canada’s 2030 and 2050 emissions reduction targets, and that will help Canada discover the co-benefits of climate action in advancing social equity and preparing its workforce in its energy transition. This position directly supervises the directors of the Buildings, Transportation, and Equitable Transition programs and the group’s communication professionals.

As an ideal candidate you’re passionate about sustainability and advancing the national conversation related to the energy transition. You’ll act both from a strategic and tactical lens, using your leadership expertise, skills and experience to guide a team of experts and expand the Pembina Institute’s national and regional reach. You’re positive and collaborative, with a record of building rapport, solving problems and advancing the conversation related to decarbonization within Canadian communities. Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience. The hiring range for the position is $115,000 to $130,000 with a position maximum of $151,497 gained with increased skill and experience in the role.
