Transfer Environment and Society (TES) has developed its unique expertise and approach in fostering the social acceptance of industrial and institutional projects. TES’ mission is to build bridges between project proponents and communities, using community engagement and communication mechanisms. Oriented towards sustainability, TES’ approach favours a real dialogue between all stakeholders and co-design of strategic actions to make a project and company desired in the community. TES has become one of the leading consultancy firms specialized in community engagement, environmental communication and social acceptance processes. We work mostly in Quebec, Ontario & Maritimes.

A little about your role!

We are seeking a seasoned professional not only familiar with environmental assessment processes, but also in longer-term trust-building in face of new challenges. Working as part of the Ontario team, this person will undertake engagement diagnostics, design and monitor the implementation of community engagement and communication strategies. The Director will play a key role as the designer and facilitator of community advisory committees and supervise key deliverables provided by our project managers and analysts. The Director will also need to represent the firm, participate in sales meetings, undertake proposal writing and ensure the coordination of various assignments in Ontario.

What you will be doing…

The position of Director, Community Engagement and Communications consists of:

  • Developing new opportunities, undertake proposal processes and attend conferences
  • Undertaking and supervise projects: plan, monitorings, writing, reviewing deliverables
  • Ensuring customer relations and provide strategic advice
  • Ensuring an efficient coordination of resources on projects
  • Contributing to the strategic development activities of the firm

Our Expectations

  • 8 or more years of relevant experience
  • Preferred fields of study: anthropology/sociology, communication/journalism, environment, geography, MBA CSR or Sustainability, or other relevant degrees
  • Master degree preferred or good argumentative writing skills
  • Excellent understanding of social acceptance dynamics in environmental planning (CEAA and MOECC), neighbour issues or Aboriginal engaging processes
  • Familiarity with a variety of sectors, e.g. mining, waste, industrial facilities, renewables
  • Ability to travel to support our clients at various project sites across the province
  • Bilingual English and French an asset

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position, 40 hours, flexible schedule
  • Start Date: September 5, 2017
  • Salary: based on years of experience and internal compensation framework
