Position: Economic Analyst/Modeler

The Ministry of Environment takes a team-based approach to protecting Saskatchewan’s environment for the well-being of the province, its people, and its future. We use science-based solutions and environmental laws to help safeguard communities, and to protect our air, land, water, and habitat.

The Climate Resilience Branch is seeking a proactive, knowledgeable, and analytical individual with experience in economic analysis and modelling for the role of Economic Analyst/Modeler.

The successful candidate will inform climate-related policies, programs, and strategies by undertaking quantitative and statistical analysis to assess the economic impact of current or proposed federal and provincial climate policies on the Saskatchewan economy, including potential impacts on economic output, industry competitiveness, employment, investment, export performance, government tax revenue, and household expenses. Additionally, the successful candidate must be well-organized, an effective project manager, and a capable presenter, and be able to communicate complex analysis in simple language to non-specialist audiences, both orally and in writing. IMPORTANTLY, the successful candidate must have experience developing/using models and conducting quantitative analysis and economic impact analysis.

Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a graduate degree in economics, statistics, or actuarial sciences, supplemented with several years of related employment experience in economic and quantitative analysis. Candidates with a background in climate change/climate policy, public policy, and/or knowledge of the Saskatchewan economy will be given preferential consideration.

This position may occasionally involve overnight travel and requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
