Hiring: Vineyard Technician (no experience required)

Location: near Duncan, Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island BC

Averill Creek Vineyard is looking for new people to join our Vineyard crew.

Averill Creek Vineyard is one of the oldest and most established vineyards on Vancouver Island. Located on the southern slopes of Mt. Prevost, the vineyard boast some of the most exceptional terroir driven wines in the region. We utilize organic, regenerative, and scientific principals to inform our farming practices.

The vineyard worker helps with all vineyard operations and tasks, from spring pruning to fall harvest.

Qualifications

• No experience or education required
• Experience operating weed eater, hedger, and/or tractor is an asset
• Plumbing and/or irrigation experience considered an asset
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time
• Enjoy working outdoors.
• This is a seasonal, hourly position, with the potential for longer-term employment for the right candidate
• Reliable transportation to and from work

Responsibilities

• Canopy Management: pruning, tying, shoot thinning, tucking, shoot positioning, leaf thinning, hedging.
• Harvest: harvest of grapes including manual labour.
• Trellis Maintenance; general repairs of trellis systems.
• Comply with all company policies and regulations.
• Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations.
• Perform other duties as directed by manager/supervisor.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Salary: $17-20 per hour depending on experience
