Position: Digital Marketing Manager, Full-Time, 12-Month Contract (the successful candidate will be a self-employed freelancer, not an employee), with possibility of staying on in a permanent capacity

Location: primarily virtual, but must reside in Ontario, for occasional access to Toronto.

Term: June 2021 through May 2022, with possible extension.
Remuneration: $40,000

EcoParent magazine is undergoing an exciting digital transformation that requires an experienced and motivated digital marketing manager to maintain and develop digital channels, drive engagement and growth, and spearhead a variety of new multimedia initiatives.

We are a very small and nimble team, working flexible, remote, full-time hours, and moving mountains every single day.   • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certification in digital marketing, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a broad-spectrum digital marketing role
  • Excellent command over the English language


Digital Marketing

  • Develop and execute the digital marketing plan
  • Research and implement strategies to increase growth across digital channels
  • Maintain brand consistency and growing brand awareness on all platforms
  • Build user journeys, marketing funnels, lead gen and email marketing campaigns using the Mautic marketing automation platform
  • Curate weekly and monthly newsletters
  • Create landing pages and graphic assets

Digital Content/Editorial

  • Plan, research and write copy for web content, including promotional material and sponsored content for brand partners
  • Recruit and manage digital contributors
  • Lead digital editorial ideation and develop story ideas with strong SEO potential in collaboration with digital contributors
  • Substantive editing and SEO optimization of digital-only articles
  • Stay on top of green parenting trends including conducting market, keyword and trends research

Social Media Management

  • Execute and maintain our social media strategies across multi-platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Represent brand consistently across social channels
  • Develop a dynamic monthly social media content calendar with engaging/relevant content (using grid posts, stories, reels, IGTV, etc.)
  • Craft impactful copy and create graphic assets
  • Manage and oversee social media interactions with followers and other brands
  • Stay up to date with trends and social media best practices and technologies
  • Track KPIs for growth and engagement using insights and other data analysis tools
  • Monitor user engagement, and respond to all DM/PMs

Influencer Marketing

  • Manage a roster of 30+ Brand Ambassadors, including monitoring monthly deliverables and collaborating on content
  • Build and nurture influencer relationships
  • Create influencer marketing campaigns on behalf of our brand partners, from strategy, campaign brief to contract negotiation, content review and campaign monitoring
  • Ensure smooth and successful execution of all influencer campaigns, including establishing and measuring KPIs for marketing goals
  • Reporting and Client Briefing

Other Tasks

  • Maintain ongoing media partnerships and research more opportunities for growth
  • Delegate to, and monitor the work of, a sporadic flow of youth interns
  • Maintain and source e-commerce partnerships for the ecoSHOP

In addition to the regular duties above, the successful candidate will spearhead the development of marketing plans for, and general execution of, three new grant-funded projects:

  • The creation of e-Learning content, facilitating progress between course instructors and videographer;
  • The launch of a multi-channel podcast network;
  • The prototyping and testing of a white-labelled mobile application.

EcoParent is made up of a decentralized team (since well before COVID!) of three core staff. We work autonomously, but we’re a tightly-knit unit, counting on each other to make deadlines, stay connected, and take ownership over your work. Responsibility, accountability, and a strong work ethic are essential traits to succeed in this role.
