Position: Digital Communications Intern (Paid)
Employer: Responsible Investment Association

: 20-30 hours per week
Term: February to May, 2019

Location: Remote, with occasional meetings in person or via videoconference. Preference will be given to candidates based in Toronto or Montreal, but exceptional candidates from other Canadian regions will be considered.

Compensation: $15.40/hour

The Responsible Investment Association (RIA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to responsible investment (RI), which refers to investments that incorporate environmental, social and governance issues. Our mandate is to drive the adoption of responsible investing in Canada while supporting our members which include asset managers, asset owners, advisors and service providers who practice and support responsible investing.

Internship Opportunity

The Responsible Investment Association is seeking a Digital Communications Intern to support our digital marketing and communications efforts. The work term will begin immediately, and will continue for a duration of four months. Preference will be given to candidates based in Toronto or Montreal, but exceptional candidates from other Canadian regions will be considered.


The Intern will support the RIA’s Digital communications efforts, with a core focus on social media marketing, building e-blasts, laying out documents, performing website updates and basic graphic design tasks. The Intern will also be expected to assist with other programs as needed. The Intern will work remotely, and will report directly to the Manager, Communications and Digital Media.


  • Post-secondary education in digital communications or a related field.
  • Basic graphic design skills using software such as Adobe Photoshop or InDesign.
  • Experience using newsletter applications such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.
  • Demonstrable social media skills and knowledge about social media strategy, targeted social marketing, and audience engagement. Key social media accounts include Twitter and LinkedIn. Experience with Hootsuite would be an asset.
  • Competent with Wordpress.
  • Fluency in English is required. Bilingualism (EN + FR) would be an asset.
