Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate and Government Relations, the General Manager, Environmental Sustainability is the senior environmental resource in the company, providing leadership to their divisions and environmental resources located across Canada and the US. The individual will be responsible for the development and management of company-wide strategies and policies to steward the company’s ESG performance. Assisting growth opportunities, projects and operations to measure and meet their environmental performance targets and regulatory requirements will be central to the role. The General Manager will be expected to identify challenges and opportunities in project opportunities and operations and work with the respective teams at West Fraser to solve those challenges in a timely and pragmatic fashion.

The successful candidate will bring a track record of success in a senior environmental and sustainability role within a large, complex natural resource and extraction environment where the development of strategies and policies has been core to their mandate. The individual will have a broad understanding of the environmental regulatory environment in Canada and ideally in the US. They will have experience in managing a geographically diverse team and in working closely with senior company leaders. The successful candidate will have a confident, compelling and inspirational leadership style that values people, supports front line decision making and is focused on achieving desired business results. The individual will ideally be recognized as an evolving leader in ESG and brings a highly team-oriented, strategically driven approach with a focus on the future.
