Position Title: Project Coordinator

Annual Salary: $50,000

Overview

reThink Green is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to serve as the Project Coordinator for our growing portfolio of climate adaptation initiatives in Northeastern Ontario. This includes the Climate Adaptation & Resiliency Training Program, Green Economy North, and related community-based climate adaptation projects. These programs aim to equip municipalities, Indigenous communities, and businesses with tools and training to strengthen resilience through sustainable building practices, urban agriculture, emissions reduction, and climate-resilient business strategies.

The Project Coordinator will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering these impactful initiatives while supporting reThink Green’s mission to empower communities and organizations to adapt to a changing climate.


Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination

  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of multiple climate adaptation programs, including the Climate Adaptation & Resiliency Training Program and Green Economy North.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Ensure all program activities align with reThink Green’s strategic goals and funding requirements.
  • Track progress, report on outcomes, and identify risks or issues impacting delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison for program participants, including local government staff, elected officials, First Nations representatives, and business leaders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with collaborating partners such as the Georgian Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere and Green Economy Canada.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between stakeholders, partners, and the internal team.

Training, Business Support, and Events

  • Coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual training sessions, workshops, and events across programs.
  • Support the design and facilitation of project kickoffs, workshops, and wrap-up events.
  • Work with the project team to deliver tailored training on urban agriculture, climate-resilient building practices, and business sustainability strategies (e.g., emissions tracking, climate adaptation planning).

Budget and Reporting

  • Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Prepare progress reports for the Executive Director, funding agencies, and program partners.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and deliverables.

Team Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with internal staff (e.g., Communications/Course Coordinator, Climate Innovation Officer, Green Economy North staff) to ensure cohesive program delivery.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams, ensuring alignment with goals.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Project Management, Public Administration, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • 2-5 years of experience in project coordination, ideally within environmental sustainability, climate adaptation, community engagement, or government sectors.
  • Familiarity with climate adaptation, sustainability, or emissions reduction initiatives is a strong asset.

Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Asana, Trello).
  • Experience working with municipalities, Indigenous communities, businesses, or other regional organizations is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (for regional travel).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Applicants must reside in Northern Ontario, and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Candidates should be new entrants to the workforce, transitioning to a new career, or unemployed/underemployed and entering a new field.
  • Applicants must not have previously participated in NOHFC’s People & Talent Program.
