Position: AeroBarrier Technician - Residential Construction
Employer: Quantum Building Performance – Building Science and Residential Air Sealing Services 
Edmonton, Alberta

Job Overview:

Quantum Building Performance (QBP) is dedicated to promoting clean growth in the residential construction industry by providing the latest Building Science Technology and Information to homebuilders and clients.

QBP is an authorized Dealer of AeroBarrier, a breakthrough technology in building envelope air sealing that simultaneously measures and seals building air leakage.

This position reports to the company owner directly and will involve the operation of portable machinery to air seal residential buildings under construction using a breakthrough technology.

The successful candidates will possess a dedication towards sustainability and social responsibility as it pertains to building science.

This is a ground floor opportunity in a startup business. A successful candidate who is motivated and interested may receive consideration for a promotion to Project Manager & Lead AeroBarier Technician.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Assembly and operation of air sealant equipment
  • Preparing building and masking off of air leakage areas such as window and door frames
  • Operation of blower door equipment to generate pre and post application air leakage test data
  • Regular inspection of equipment and product to ensure consistency and quality of service
  • Ensuring job site clean up and building closure post-application is compliant with company expectations and standards
  • Communicating and collaborating with contracted services to ensure a timely and organized process for all involved
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and communications at job sites and all company functions
  • Ongoing reporting to head office to identify challenges, inventory requirements, and client feedback to support continuous improvement and growth of services to meet client needs

An ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Preference is given to those with a technical knowledge of building science and residential construction.
  • Graduate from high school, vocational program, diploma, or degree
  • Orientation to customer service and relations
  • Excellent communication and social skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate and troubleshoot basic machinery (training provided)
  • Must have own vehicle – travel to job sites required
  • Ability to tow a utility trailer an asset
  • Able to undergo a security screening, including a criminal records check.

  • Start Date - Aug 1, 2018
  • Location – Edmonton
  • Wage Offered - $18.50 - $21.50/Hr
  • Job Type – Full-time / contract (32-44 hours per week)
