The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is the country’s leading private land conservation organization. The Assistant, Conservation Biology (ACB) supports the Southwestern Ontario Coordinator, Conservation Biology (CB) in conservation efforts in the NCC subregion of Southwestern Ontario with a focus on the Western Lake Erie Islands, Essex Forests and Wetlands, and Port Frank Wetlands and Dunes Natural Areas. SWO encompasses ecological districts (7E-1, 7E-2, 7E-3, 7E-5, 7E-6). The objective of the program is the delivery of NCC’s mission of protecting biological diversity through collaborative, strategic, science-based land conservation and stewardship. The Assistant, Conservation Biology will contribute to the stewardship, management and administration of NCC properties throughout Southwestern Ontario. NCC currently owns and manages over 3,000 ha (7,400 ac) in southern Ontario including sites at Pelee Island, Niagara, Long Point and Port Franks.
