Position: Manager of Ecosystem Recovery
Organization: Carolinian Canada Coalition
Location: virtual with some travel in the Carolinian Zone, Ontario

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated leader to reverse the trend of habitat loss as part of a multidisciplinary team in Southern Ontario. You will manage programs that support the three directions of the organization to enable leadership, scale-up conservation and track impact.

Carolinian Canada is a virtual workplace with some travel in the Carolinian Zone. Candidates should have the necessary equipment to fulfil this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Co-lead Southern Ontario Seed Strategy in collaboration with Indigenous Leadership Specialist and partner groups
  • Lead Conservation Impact Bond Habitat and Healthy Landscape portfolios in collaboration with partner groups
  • Participate in the In The Zone team to manage a multi partner platform and education programs to engage the public in growing native plants
  • Research and data analysis to support the Big Picture conservation strategy
  • Provide reports, reviews and recommendations based on ecological best practices and ecosystem health of diverse materials including policy, public communications, funding, etc.
  • Work closely with diverse Landowner Leaders to plan and approve high quality habitat projects, and Carolinian Habitat Action Plans (CHAP)
  • Lead and/or assist in proposal writing, communications and other fundraising activities to support ecological programs
  • Program development to position Carolinian Canada as a network leader in healthy landscapes and protecting biodiversity in the region
  • Administration to support ecological programming
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Ability for occasional travel within North America

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Post-graduate or equivalent experience in Conservation and/or Ecological Restoration including field work
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with conservation project management
  • Familiarity with the Carolinian Zone, and conservation issues and opportunities
  • Experience in network facilitation, relationship building and partnership management
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven report writing and data analysis skills
  • Previous experience with grant writing
  • Previous experience working with Indigenous communities and native plant industry considered an asset
