Position: Communications Content Specialist (17 Month Contract)
Organization: Evergreen
Location: based out of Evergreen Brick Works (EBW) in Toronto, Ontario 

Introduction:

The Communications Content Specialist is a skilled writer who plays a critical role in the planning, development and execution of content and promotion of Evergreen’s work. The successful candidate has experience in creating engaging content for diverse audiences and a passion for sharing stories that are helping shape our cities and communities for the better across the country. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s Housing Supply Challenge Support Program, led by Evergreen, and building sector capacity to generate innovative housing solutions.

About the Role:

The Communications Content Specialist is responsible for planning and executing effective communication initiatives and content development in the realm of housing and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will showcase excellent digital writing skills for website, email and social media and be able to develop communications plans and curate content that supports program objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead digital content planning and contribute to communications goals
  • Inform SEO strategy and track digital analytics with actionable insights
  • Develop and implement the digital content strategy for the Community Solutions Portal
  • Create and post interactive content on social media channels to ensure they are both engaging and aligned with our brand
  • Monitor social channels, for inquiries, trends, and customer service
  • Create and schedule content
  • Implement all paid social campaigns and work with partners to execute adwords
  • Creative storytelling; create, write copy, edit and manage content that is consistent with Evergreen’s brand
  • Develop visuals for the website, social, YouTube and email
  • Edit posts, for spelling, formatting, SEO and links
  • Contribute to newsletter creation
  • Implement brand guidelines with partners
  • Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Contribute to positive workplace culture and great internal communication
  • Model Evergreen’s core values of sustainability, innovation and connection

About You:

You have the following qualifications:

  • 3-5 years relevant work experience creating and executing content
  • Post-secondary education in communications with a focus on digital, public relations or equivalent experience
  • Creative storyteller with proven track record engaging audiences through different channels—including website, social media, print
  • Excellent written communication skills and knowledge on how to converse, write and edit for digital platforms
  • In depth knowledge of how to develop, share, and collect data insights for content development on social networks, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn
  • Experience managing paid social campaigns
  • Experience of SEO best practices, google analytics, Adobe Creative Cloud and Hootsuite
  • Experience in online community management
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS
  • Knowledge of AODA
  • Working knowledge of email marketing platforms
  • Experience in photography and videography an asset
  • Experience working with government an asset
  • French is an asset

Additional Information:

Reporting Relationships:

  • Supervised by: Sr. Manager, Public Relations & Content

Working Conditions:

  • Position is based out of Evergreen’s head office at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic this position is currently remote, with ongoing remote work a possibility
  • Regular office hours (flexible), with occasional onsite and offsite evenings and/or weekends as required

Contract:

  • Fulltime, contract (17 months)
  • Target Hire Rate: $54,000 - $59,000 annually
  • Employer-paid health and dental benefits package, 3 weeks paid vacation, 3 Evergreen Days and your birthday off, and professional development opportunities.
