Public Relations Internship

Public Relations Internship

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Communications Advisor, the Public Relations Intern will assist in the development and execution of the Greenbelt Foundation’s communications activities and PR strategy. The intern will gain visibility into the inner workings and aspects of the public relations field, provide concrete deliverables, and acquire a greater understanding of the charitable/non-profit sector.

Responsibilities

  • Build and update media lists and databases
  • Perform research and market analysis activities
  • Communicate and build relationships with current or prospect clients
  • Packaging and shipping parcels to media; filling media requests
  • On-site and off-site assistance with special events; event planning
  • Stakeholder-related research
  • Tracking all press coverage, clipping press hits and creating monthly press hit reports
  • Administrative duties

Qualifications and Core Competencies

  • Current enrollment in, or recently graduated from, a university or college program specialising in public relations, communications, journalism or similar relevant field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Applicable knowledge of copywriting, drafting and editing
  • Passion and a true interest in the PR industry and its best practices
  • Efficiency in MS Office
  • Excellent presentation and leadership skills
  • Attention to details
  • Experience in environmental services/studies considered an asset

Details:

Hours: 25 hours per week
Term: 6 months
Compensation: Paid Internship
Location: Downtown Toronto, easily accessible by public transportation
