Position: Campaign Director
Organization: Earthroots
Location: Toronto, Ontario

The Campaign Director is responsible for delivering high impact campaigns that will educate and mobilize the public.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Campaign Director will lead the development and implementation of Earthroots’ campaigns in collaboration with our small team, mainly working out of our Toronto office.

About Earthroots

Originally founded as the Temagami Wilderness Society, Earthroots is a grassroots environmental organization dedicated to protecting Ontario’s wilderness, wildlife and watersheds through research, education and action.

For over 30 years Earthroots has been advocating for old-growth forest protection, wildlife conservation, protection of our green spaces and water resources in southern Ontario, and supporting Indigenous communities like Grassy Narrows First Nation.

Earthroots advocates for real change by asking the big asks, always using science to back up our position.


We are seeking a candidate with experience in delivering high impact campaigns that have effectively influenced the public and/or government decision-makers.

  • Paid and/or volunteer experience using a wide range of tactics to mobilize the public and influence government decision-makers.
  • Excellent communication, writing/research and networking skills.
  • Experience acting as a spokesperson to media, government and other key stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently or as part of a team as required.
  • Strong project management, monitoring, evaluation and budgeting skills.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario political landscape, experience working for an NGO and fundraising skills are assets.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and tactical implementation of Earthroots’ campaigns.
  • Providing support and leadership to campaign staff and volunteers.
  • Acting as a spokesperson to the media, government and the public as required.
  • Cultivating government, political and community relationships.
  • Participating in public planning initiatives.
  • Working with Earthroots' team to develop inspiring projects that further our goals.
  • Building Earthroots’ brand and securing resources by actively contributing to our supporter relationships, fundraising, communications and donor reporting activities.


Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
