Position: Stakeholder Relations Officer

Forests Ontario is seeking an outgoing, self-motivated, and creative candidate with excellent communication and teamwork skills to support our stakeholder relations efforts, particularly through coordination of the It Takes a Forest awareness initiative.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Ontario’s forest sector and experience working with Indigenous communities/organizations. The candidate should also have experience managing multi-stakeholder projects. Finally, the candidate should bring a passion for raising awareness of our natural resources and the importance of their sustainable management!

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the It Takes a Forest initiative by delivering on identified priorities and implementing campaigns; work with the Communications Department to develop associated resources and analyze success/impact
  • Coordinate the growing It Takes a Forest billboard network (establishment of new signs, maintenance of existing Ministry of Transportation permits, etc.)
  • Assist with fundraising for the It Takes a Forest initiative (approaching industry stakeholders and applying for grants/funding)
  • Compiling year end and forecasting reports for It Takes a Forest initiative
  • Work with the Education Department to advance understanding of Ontario’s forests and promote forestry as a viable career pathway; lead presentations on associated topics to various interest groups
  • Act as point person for relationship building with Indigenous communities and organizations in support of Forests Ontario’s Reconciliation Community Tree Plant program
  • Event coordination (virtual, in-person, and hybrid events)

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ontario class G drivers license
  • Knowledge and understanding of the environment and forest sector
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations

Job Posting Details:

  • This is a full-time contract position that will require working remotely.
  • Weekend and evening work may be required.
