Hiring: Organic Inspectors

Ecocert Canada has been certifying Canadian businesses as organic for more than 30 years. We live and breathe sustainability, and we truly care about the environment and making a positive impact on the world. We do this by making sure our clients follow the Canadian Organic Regime (and other standards), which ensures that consumers get what they expect from the products they purchase.

TASKS

Reporting to the Division Manager – Evaluations Canada (English), the Organic Inspector visits businesses that are certified or wishing to be certified organic.

Ecocert Canada is looking for a dynamic and friendly individual who is passionate about organic production, the environment, and sustainable agriculture.

The Organic Inspector works from home and on the road. The Inspector may have to visit other regions/provinces as required.

May 2023

  • Learn and understand the inspection role and appropriate organic certification standards.
  • Review existing and new client files
  • 35 Hrs per week availability

June 2023 and beyond

  • Contact clients to schedule inspection appointments.
  • Perform inspections according to Ecocert Canada procedures and the Canadian organic regulations
  • Clarify any missing information with clients (as needed).
  • File a timely and accurate inspection report for each client.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with other departments

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • 2 Years Education in Agriculture Required
  • 2+ years of crop work experience
  • Detail-oriented with a good sense of observation, customer service focused
  • Quick learner, works well independently, superior time-management skills
  • Comfortable learning new computer software, familiarity with Microsoft Office 365
  • Crop inputs, horticultural crops, livestock skills, organic certification knowledge or french language are an asset
