Position: Administration & Human Resources
Organization: Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort and Retreat
Location: Indian Brook, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia 
Housing: some staff housing available (inquire)
Hours: full-time June to Oct. and part-time the rest of the year

Administration & Human Resources

Located on the Atlantic side of the Cabot Trail, Cabot Shores is a second home to guests from all over the world. We offer a range of traditional and unique accommodations, outdoor adventures, wellness services, cultural activities and serve nutritious meals in our Bistro. Join our team of hardworking, fun-loving staff and spend your time in a beautiful setting, enjoying activities onsite such as meditation, Qi Gong, kayaking, hiking, swimming, music jams, and more.

Duties include:

  • Manage online and phone reservations including taking payments
  • Welcome guests and provide excellent customer service
  • Interview and assess job candidates
  • Front desk training, supervision and evaluation
  • Organize employee records
  • Scheduling
  • Basic Accounting (Assume responsibility of budgeting and monitoring expenses)
  • Address customer complaints and go the extra mile to make sure guests are satisfied
  • Organize and coordinate operations to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Enforce adherence to regulations and quality standards
  • Learn about and understand government programs such as Start, student coop programs & summer skills incentive, student summer jobs, apprenticeship programs and more
  • Writing and tracking grants & proposals

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of QuickBook system an asset
  • Degree in Business Administration, Hotel/Hospitality Management or relevant field experience an asset
  • Hands-on experience in customer service, administration, human resource, accounting or similar field
  • Hands-on experience with basic accounting
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal job programs, standards, safety and regulations
  • Computer literacy, proficient in MS Office and relevant software
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable with an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages an asset
  • Enjoy being in a rural area of Cape Breton

General information:

  • Position is full time from June to October and part time the rest of the year
  • Flexible schedule with possibility of split shift
  • Hourly wage (depends on experience)
  • Some staff housing available (inquire)
