Positions: Algonquin Park Canoe Trip Guide
Contracts: Available from mid-May to end of September 2020

Algonquin Canoe Trip Guide Leaders

Voyageur Quest is looking for canoe guides to work 3 and 5-day canoe trips at the North West corner of Algonquin Park for our 2020 spring/summer and fall season. In addition to having an exceptional canoe tripping background, applicants should have strong leadership skills and be comfortable speaking about Algonquin flora, fauna, night sky and local culture in front of an adult commercial and family market. Solid interpretative and program skills are essential. Our guides love to teach our guests about the wonders of Algonquin Park. Warmth and Hospitality skills are essential.

Applicants should have the following certification:

  • Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or equivalent
  • ORCKA Canoe Tripping 3 or Paddle Canada Advanced Trip Leader or 750 kms canoe trip leadership experience
  • Lifeguarding Certification - National Lifeguard/Bronze Cross or equivalent
  • Strong leadership experience in a wilderness environment
  • Exceptionally strong canoe tripping background preferably in a commercial setting
  • Clear and satisfactory criminal record background check

All Canoe Guides must have:

  • Personal Paddle, PFD, tent & personal camping gear used for tripping
  • Comprehensive Wilderness First Aid Kit

Contracts available from:

  • Approx third week in May to end of Sept 2020
  • Training - mid (likely 3rd week) in May

Salary: From $145 to $200 per day (commensurate with certifications and experience) plus tips
