FarmFolk CityFolk (FFCF) is a not-for-profit charitable organization working to cultivate local, sustainable food systems across BC. We develop, operate, and act as a catalyst for projects that support access to and production of local, sustainable food; support local growers and producers; provide access to and protection of farmland; and connect, educate, and celebrate with communities across BC. For 25 years FFCF has been a leader in local food and sustainable agriculture working with business, NGO partners, government, universities, and the public to achieve our mandate.
Reporting to the Executive Director, FFCF is seeking a bookkeeper to complement our financial management team, which includes the Executive Director, Office Manager, and Treasurer. We are seeking someone deeply familiar with the financial requirements for a registered charity, and with Quickbooks (both desktop and online). The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver, and keen to work within existing systems as well as provide insight into efficiencies we may adopt. An interest in food system is a bonus!
General bookkeeping responsibilities including entering coded transactions in Quickbooks, bank reconciliations, visa reconciliations, donation processing, and processing invoices, expense claims and bill payments
Process payroll, calculate and submit all associated remittances
Maintain organized and comprehensive financial records that comply with relevant best practices and legal requirements
Prepare financial reports including but not limited to financial statements, monthly budget vs actuals reports, cash flow statements, quarterly reports to the board, end of year un-audited statements, and funding reports
Assist the Executive Director in the preparation and the annual budget
Complete the annual charity return, GST return, and T4’s
CPA designation a strong asset
At least 3 years experience doing bookkeeping in a registered Canadian Charity setting
Tech savvy - exceptionally comfortable with online banking, google drive, quickbooks online, etc
Excellent attention to details and organization skills
Reliable and flexible, with excellent written and oral communications skills

This is an ongoing contract position, and suitable for someone in a private practice or a company.
The base rate for bookkeeping is $350/ month, with an additional up to $150/ month for additional meetings, reports, and tasks.
Our office is on Granville Island in Vancouver and we would love to work with someone we can meet face to face with on occasion. Working from the office is possible, as is working from home.
We are looking for someone with the flexibility to respond in 2-3 working days for requests.
