GreenBooks is a full-service bookkeeping social enterprise focused on supporting environmental small-shop nonprofits to build their financial capacity. We operate nationally with clients all throughout Canada, helping them gain financial independence by providing bookkeeping services such as payroll, tax filing, and financial statements. We are experts in all things bookkeeping for nonprofits, as we are a nonprofit ourselves. By relieving the stress of bookkeeping we help nonprofits achieve their missions.

We are located in Ottawa and are looking for a part-time bookkeeper with potential for full-time interested in making a difference in the environmental sector. Job Duties:

  • Work on QuickBooks Desktop
  • Maintain finance database records; support invoice preparation for income; prepare financial statements and reports including the profit and loss statement and balance sheet; receipt money; reconcile bank account; prepare payroll; approve petty cash system and cash boxes for events (as needed); collect funds and make bank deposits; assist staff in balancing their reimbursement forms; keep the supervisor informed as to the balances of internal accounts.
  • Support invoice activities and pay vendors for materials/services. Ensure that invoices are correct; review invoices/reimbursements; make entries and cut checks for vendors. Maintain a database within Quickbooks of vendors, customers, and other contacts.
  • Assist with other legal matters including donation tax receipts, tax filing (payroll and HST), and annual filing with Industry Canada (Annual Summary). Assist in providing documentation for the financial statements with the appointed auditor and make all necessary preparation and adjustments.
  • Perform clerical/administrative functions. Manage finance correspondence by email and mail, handle service provider accounts; maintain financial files; maintain a secure back-up copy of the Quickbooks file.
  • Engage and communicate with clients.

Requirements:

  • Must be located in the Ottawa area
  • Available during weekdays and able to work in-office
  • Bookkeeping Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detailed-oriented
  • Team player

Experience:

  • QuickBooks Desktop (Minimum 1 year preferred)
  • Bookkeeping (Minimum 1 year preferred)
  • Work within the nonprofit sector

Pay:

  • Determined by level of experience
