BOOKKEEPING ASSISTANT

Position: Bookkeeping trainee / Admin assistant

Job description:

We are seeking a friendly, reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper trainee interested in learning and performing bookkeeping duties under the guidance of our experienced volunteer Treasurer. In addition, if they wish, the bookkeeper trainee would be a welcome participant and member of our volunteer finance team, where they could gain familiarlity with payroll, micro-grant administration, and fundraising.

This is a long-term position that is 4-8 hours per month with flexibility to work from home.

Tasks:

  • Issue invoices, payments and receipts as required.
  • Record revenue and expenses on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile bank account statements monthly.
  • Help set-up a new group membership invoice and payment system.
  • Help administer payroll for summer student employees.

Preferred skills:

  • Interest and motivation to learn bookkeeping and not-for-profit finance management skills.
  • Interest in learning QuickBooks.
  • Must be very meticulous, have a positive attitude, and be a great team player.

Orientation:

The Bookkeeper will learn about bookkeeping and GNN while working closely with the volunteer GNN Treasurer and in meetings with member volunteers of the GNN Finance team.

Time commitment:

4-8 hours a month.
