  • Responsible for leading GD’s Environmental Permitting function to ensure that the company’s operations are optimally managed/designed and to act as the key contact and support for assigned programs.
  • Responsible for the design and review of sediment erosion controls, environmental restoration and mitigation, Ministry of Environment Permit to Take Water, Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry Species at Risk compliance, Department of Fisheries and Oceans assessment, and tree by-laws for the GD Franchise area.
  • Responsible for the implementation (develop, if required,) and management of complex and visible environmental programs/strategies for Environmental Compliance Approvals.
  • Geotechnical investigations support on specific planning projects.
  • Independently prepares and defends environmental reports for large projects.
  • Develop, implement, and deliver training on environmental policy, programs and procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections for the Business Unit.
  • Participate in the drawing review process.
  • Provide technical guidance and contribute to environmental assessments.


  • Degree in Biology is required.
  • Post-secondary degree in an environmental program such as environmental science or environmental engineering.
  • Holds a professional designation, CISEC Certified, EP, or similar.
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years of progressive experience in related roles.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Endangered Species Act and related regulations.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Ontario Water Resources Act and related regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Conservation Authority Regulations.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Environmental Assessment legislation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with abilities to influence and present to various levels and types of internal/external stakeholders.
  • Strong initiative and creativity in developing innovative approaches and solutions to business policy issues/opportunities.
