Position: Project Coordinator
Organization: Ontario By Bike / Transportation Options

Overview

Transportation Options is looking for a dynamic individual to coordinate one of its lead programs, the Ontario By Bike Network. Ontario By Bike is a pan provincial program that develops and promotes cycle tourism, working with a variety of industry partners, businesses and organizations. Through digital and print communication channels plus events, Ontario By Bike has significant reach into the cycling market and is a well-regarded source for consumer information. This position would offer the selected candidate an opportunity to utilize a variety of work skills including those stemming from previous experience in project coordination, industry relations, marketing and communications.

Transportation Options is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable mobility and tourism solutions across Ontario. Knowledge and experience of Ontario travel and tourism as well as a strong interest in cycling are additional qualifications.

Responsibilities

Core program initiatives and special projects:

  • Coordinate and administer the Ontario By Bike Network Bicycle Friendly Business Certification Program, providing:
    • Operator and industry partner support
    • Preparation and distribution of program materials
    • Assistance with online program registration
    • Facilitation of workshops/webinars
    • Promotional assistance
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of a variety of special projects, including research, stakeholder outreach and report preparation

Marketing and Communication

  • Coordinate and assist with the production of annual and ongoing marketing and communication campaigns including:
    • Cycling in Ontario guide - Sales outreach and administration, content development, distribution, evaluation
    • Digital campaigns and online marketing - Develop content and assist in writing enewsletters for consumer and industry audiences
    • Social media and blogs – Content development, content calendar
    • Partner and program website content updates

Event Coordination and Tour Development:

  • Help coordinate and organize Ontario By Bike Rides, small group weekend bike tours by:
    • Researching and preparing tour logistics
    • Preparing sales and marketing information as well as detailed trip information for participants
    • Participating on Ontario By Bike Rides as one of the tour leaders ensuring tour guest safety, satisfaction and overall tour facilitation
  • Preparation for and attendance as vendor/display booth at a variety of consumer events and shows throughout the year

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in a communications and project coordination role
  • Excellent written, public speaking, facilitation and relationship management skills
  • Ability to write public facing marketing materials and reports
  • Experience coordinating events
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Travel and tourism knowledge of destinations across Ontario.
  • Social media platforms management experience
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and ability to coordinate multiple projects
  • Resourcefulness and initiative to function individually and collaboratively as part of a small team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
  • Knowledge of basic HTML code and CMS systems for web site programming, google analytics, webinar hosting and online marketing platforms

Other Requirements

  • Passion for cycling and cycle touring
  • Own a bicycle
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license
  • Standard first aid and CPR training and certificate
  • Ability to travel as needed, with appropriate notice

Terms of employment: This is a four day a week, full-time equivalent position. No benefit package. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Work conditions: With flexible work hours, the general work week is Monday to Friday, however there are some requirements to work occasional weekend events, with time off in lieu provided. At present and due to Covid we are unable to access our physical office, so working from home and using personal computer is required until office location can reopen.
