Position: E-Trike Mechanic
Cooperative: Shift Delivery Coop
Location: Vancouver, BC

We are seeking an experienced bike mechanic to help with the maintenance and upgrades for our growing fleet of tricycles.

Shift Delivery is a worker-owned cooperative that uses electric-assist cargo tricycles to deliver goods around Vancouver. We are trailblazers in using trikes for delivery and our hard-working machines need that special touch only a mechanic can provide. We have an awesome team & this role can offer a lot of flexibility. Position: Trike Mechanic
Type: Part-Time (can grow to F/T)
Hours: Very Flexible (ideally 15-20hrs/week)
Wage: Minimum $19/hr - higher wage dependant on experience

Responsibilities:

• Oversee regular maintenance of mechanical systems of trikes (like bikes, but everything is bigger!)
• Troubleshoot & repair unexpected issues
• Keep the Logistics Manager up-to-date on fleet status & upcoming projects
• Track tool & parts inventory to support fleet resilience
• Procure standard & unique parts
• Identify, prioritize & execute fleet improvements and upgrades for safety and performance
• Review maintenance reports, resolve issues accordingly & note recurring trends
• Assist with training new trikers on roadside repair techniques (if interested)

What you would bring to Shift:

• 2+ years bicycle maintenance experience (or related training)
• Troubleshooting & diagnostic skills
• Experience with hydraulic brake systems
• Ability to perform maintenance within agreed-upon windows of trike availability
• Mechanical creativity to adapt existing parts to meet our unique needs
• Respect for the importance of triker safety and for your role in ensuring fleet integrity
• Solid organizational skills: diligent about preventative maintenance & record keeping
• Punctual, with strong time management skills & the ability to prioritize important tasks
• Good teamwork skills & ability to work independently

Bonus points for:

• Experience with electric drive systems for bicycles
• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Project management skills, able to plan for & achieve goals
• Experience with parts inventory management
• Experience working within a budget
• Willingness to provide on-call support
• Commitment to long-term involvement
