About BC Bee Supply

We are a honeybeekeeping supply store. We encourage new beekeepers to take up the hobby and become proficient. We are proud to have won a couple of environment awards (Environmental Star from City of Burnaby; voted Best of Burnaby in Environmental Sustainability category).

Sales & Retail Clerk

Hours:

  • March to July – 30 to 40 hours per week;
  • August to March – Part-Time.
  • Potential for full-time work depending on business needs.

This is a seasonal position with Spring being the busy season.

Responsibilities and duties

  1. Customer Service – in-store, phone, and email.
  2. Filling orders from customers.
  3. Processing of orders and payments.
  4. Direct customers to our product, and services, and help them make informed decisions regarding their beekeeping experience.
  5. Help new beekeepers with equipment, training and resources.
  6. Use of point of sales devices such as Monaris or Square is an asset.

Our primary goal at BC Bee Supply is to provide customers with high quality, personal, knowledgeable, customer service and a memorable, shopping experience, with their beekeeping purchases and practices.

Other Responsibility

  1. Opening & closing procedures including daily sales reconciliation.
  2. Maintaining the general tidiness and cleanliness of the shop.
  3. Ability to manage periods of high volume in-store and on the phone.
  4. Filling of orders taken in-store/over the phone/online, for both pick-up and shipping.
  5. Shipping – filling orders, product picking and packing, and preparation for shipping.
  6. Receiving and unloading shipments.
  7. Upkeep of displays, stocking products, and product builds.
  8. Monitoring quantities of stock and year-end inventory.
  9. General shop management and maintenance

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • At least one season of beekeeping with some formal education and knowledge of beekeeping equipment, tools, diseases/pests and their treatments.
  • An ongoing interest in the world of bees and beekeeping, with a desire to continue learning and participate in local beekeeping culture.
  • Some scheduling flexibility will be highly preferred for the peak of the season.
  • Basic computer competency, including the use of email, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Previous retail, sales and/or management experience is an asset.
  • Warehouse and/or order fulfilment experience is an asset.
  • Experience with Excel, social media, and/or general website management,
  • Desire to help customers and maintain a high quality of service.
