JOB POSTING / APPRENTICE

Position: Farm Help/Apprentice
Type: paid full-time, with on-farm accom.
Organization: Coyle organic farm
Location: near Straffordville, Ontario (on-farm accom.)

Dorothee and I (Mat) live self sufficiently, own a 50 acre organic farm near Straffordville south of Tillsonburg.

We farm with four horses and have all the horse equipment but do have the regular farm machinery, tractors, combine, swather, seed drills, sunflower planter, manure spreaders as well as seed cleaning equipment.

We grow sunflowers, camelina, flax and hemp which we press each month for food grade oils to our customers.

We also grow spelt which we dehull and clean in our own facility on the farm. We also stone grind various grades of spelt and rye flour which we sell.

On farm we have a complete welding and wood working shop as well as a complete machine shop.

We clean and sort all of our own seeds with various seed cleaners and gravity tables.

Dorothee raises chickens, Chantecleeers, Americanas and Dorkings. We have an incubator and brooder.

In winter we log with the horses in our wood lot.

We are looking for someone or a couple that can work 35 hours a week and depending on skills will make $12 to $15 and hour. While we can teach most skills, those with life skills that can work with draft horses will be paid the most. There is accomodation at the farm and one can share in the garden.
