Position: Chief Financial Officer
Organization: Fresh City Farms
Location: North York, Toronto, Ontario

About the Job

Fresh City is hiring a Chief Financial Officer. We are looking for someone awesome to round out our senior management team for our new accelerated phase of growth. You’ll play a huge role within our senior team and report to the CEO. You will have several direct and dotted line reports. It is a very exciting time at Fresh City with significant organic and acquisition-led growth across multiple channels. Our recent growth has outpaced our existing systems so we are in an intensive phase of building internal capacity to effectively manage the operation. We are in that awkward phase between being a small and medium-size business — you will help us get to medium, and beyond.

About Us:

Founded in 2011, we are an urban farm and a retailer of farm-fresh organic and local food. We are big believers in vertical integration in delivering on our promise of freshness and convenience. We plant the seed, harvest the crop, cook and pack the batch and retail the meal through our online, bricks and mortar or wholesale channels. We also own several other healthy food brands with their own retail stores. We proudly employ 160 staff.

About You:

You have significant accounting experience but more importantly, you are ready to learn. You are fundamentally a self-starter. You are not afraid of change and are excited to play a part in changing how people eat. You love presenting numbers in ways that help people better understand how to excel in their jobs. You love the weeds but you know when to step back and take stock of the whole field. You know when to ask for help and are committed to the professional growth of your reports.
