VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Position: Youth Advisory Committee Members
Organization: HUB Cycling
Location: Metro Vancouver, BC
Eligibility: youth aged 14 to 24

About us

HUB Cycling is a charitable organization that works to get more people cycling more often in Metro Vancouver through education, advocacy, and events, and with almost 3,000 members and over 40,000 direct supporters, we are the largest cycling advocacy organization in Metro Vancouver.

The opportunity

HUB Cycling is putting together a Youth Advisory Committee to amplify the voice of youth in cycling advocacy. The committee will consist of 8 to 12 youth aged 14 to 24 who are passionate about biking, sustainability, infrastructure, among other topics.

The committee will meet once a month for a 1-2 hour meeting, where they will be expected to openly and honestly share their thoughts and concerns on cycling, the environmental crisis, issues of equity, and other cycling-related topics youth have identified. The committee will identify objectives and actions that align with HUB Cycling’s mission to get more people cycling more often. Between meetings, the committee will work together to achieve these goals.

There are a variety of roles available on the committee, including co-chairs, secretary, communications coordinator, treasurer, and others. You can take on roles that align with your interests and goals. This is a great opportunity to gain skills and experience, including public speaking, experience in advocacy, outreach, leadership, etc.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for youth aged 14-24 across Metro Vancouver who are passionate about biking, sustainability, infrastructure, among other topics. No experience is required. The only expectation is that you are engaged, attend meetings, and work towards goals and tasks the committee has identified.
