YOUTH CLIMATE ACTION

Needed: Youth Climate Action Participants

Eligibility: ages 16-29

Are you a young person (16-29) in the GTA who wants to learn about sustainability and develop the skills needed to become an agent of sustainable change in your community? Join the Youth Climate Action Initiative by Skills for Change!

This 10-Week Program Consists of:

  • Weekly sustainability and leadership-focused learning sessions
  • Educational tours, events, and workshops in the community
  • Nature-based activities such as urban gardening, tree planting, and forest therapy walks
  • The opportunity to develop your own Community Climate Action Project

Program Mission: To empower youth to meaningfully engage with their communities in pursuit of a more sustainable society.

Program Details:

  • Free!
  • Hybrid format (virtual with optional in-person activities)
  • 10-weeks; 2-4 hours per week commitment
  • Sustainability Leader Certificate following the completion of the program
  • Volunteer experience (and volunteer hours upon request)

Eligibility:

  • Youth ages 16-29
  • Resides in or around the GTA, particularly in the Jane and Finch, Weston, Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park, and Black Creek areas (but all are welcome to join!)
  • Has an interest in sustainability and community climate action

How to Apply:

  • Fill out the application form telling us why you are interested in joining the program!
  • Select a 10-week cohort to join:
    • Spring 2023 (April-June 2023) - Applications Due Tues. April 4, 2023
    • Summer 2023 (July-August 2023) - Applications Due Sun. June 18, 2023
    • Autumn 2023 (September-November 2023) - Applications Due Sun. Sept. 3, 2023
