Positions: Leadership Volunteer Search — Leaders and trailblazers wanted!
Organization: Toronto Home Retrofit Program
Toronto ON or virtual

Do you have a passion for contributing to community-based non-profits that punch above their weight and bring highly innovative solutions to important social or environmental issues?

Would you enjoy sharing your expertise to help shape such an organization in its exciting incubation/startup period?

Are you interested in playing a key role in an impact-driven project dedicated to helping meet Toronto’s Net Zero climate targets?

The Toronto Home Retrofit Program (THRP) is a non-profit organization in development that will offer community groups across Toronto the support they need to help their members to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from their homes. Scaling up from a proven, volunteer-run model, this new organization will partner with community groups to deliver a home retrofit coordination service in their neighbourhoods, providing more homeowners with community-based, personalized assistance through the home retrofit process. The Toronto Home Retrofit Program aims to significantly and equitably accelerate emissions-reducing home retrofits across the city.

We are currently seeking experienced, dedicated professionals for our volunteer Project Leadership Team. Members of this team will provide strategic guidance and other assistance to help our organization in its pre-launch and/or early launch stages.

We are looking for individuals who can bring expertise in one or more of these areas:

  • Marketing/communications
  • Community outreach
  • Non-profit management (e.g. budgeting, finance, human resources, legal, fundraising/grant management, governance)

Your involvement: We are looking for leadership volunteers who can attend one virtual meeting a week, beginning in November 2022, while we are setting up the THRP. We will be transitioning to a reduced commitment/monthly meeting schedule once the organizational structure for the THRP is in place, sometime in early 2023. We anticipate having some leadership volunteers who can join us for the immediate short term (to assist with the critical pre-launch phase only, and perhaps even for one or two meetings) while others may be able to stay with the project longer, and may fill roles on a more permanent organizational board or leadership advisory group.

Please note: We welcome and encourage applicants across all dimensions of diversity. We thank all applicants for your time and interest; unfortunately we are only able to contact those selected for further discussions.

If you are interested in this leadership volunteer opportunity and feel you can contribute some of the expertise we are looking for, please contact:
