Positions: Application and Software Development Internships

We are currently looking for Fall and Winter Interns to join our team to help us complete our MVP. Ideal candidates have a passion for environmental issues and a strong knowledge about programming languages and development skills to create, test, and develop applications on mobile devices. Ideal candidates will feel comfortable to work in popular operating system environments like WordPress, iOS, and Android and have a strong understanding of UI and UX principles.

This role has a mindful and strategic impact on our company, supporting the development of the technical side of our MVP. This will be a great opportunity for those who want to be challenged, learn, and build hands-on and real-life experience to prepare for life after graduation. This internship may lead to a long-term paid role.

Our Application and software Development Intern responsibilities:

  • The first phase/iteration of this application will be built as a dedicated web application in a WordPress based environment
  • Build efficient and reusable front and back-end abstractions and systems and ensure user experience determines design choices
  • Write high-quality and scalable code that supports future functionality of the product
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks in the system and present ideal solutions
  • Participate in design and code reviews with other team members and incorporate their innovations and vice versa

  • Must have had exposure to programming in c and c++ — applicants without experience here will not be considered
  • Bachelor degree  or College diploma in Computer science, Engineering or IT preferred OR Be enrolled in full-time post-secondary computer science, computer engineering, computer engineering technologies, or computer engineering technologist programme(s)
  • Experience programming iOS and Android Apps
  • Proficiency with one and/or any of the following please specify on the top of page one of your resume/cv/application: React native, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery, SQL (NoSQL is a Plus), Apache/lightspeed, Basics of command line/terminal, Some CCNA experience, Adobe Creative Cloud/CS, fundamentals of UI/UX – would be a plus

Flexible scheduling options available, one day a week or 2 half days required to work at our office with our IT team.
