SUSTAINABLE FOOD ISSUES

Position: Communications Committee Volunteer
Organization: Middlesex London Food Policy Council
Location: Middlesex County and London, Ontario (mostly remote)

Are you creative, dedicated, and food-focused? Do you have experience with photography or graphic design? Perhaps you enjoy writing blog posts or researching food issues? We’re looking for someone like you to join our awesome Communications Committee!

About Us - The Middlesex London Food Policy Council is a collective of members committed to ensuring our food system is resilient, sustainable, equitable, and just. We provide an on-going place for dialogue, decision-making and the coordination of a variety of initiatives that may be citizen-led, community-led, industry-led, municipally-led or truly cross-sector.

Available Roles - Accessibility Officer, Content Creator, Graphic Artist, Photographer, Researcher. Each role is a 2-4 hour commitment per week for at least one year, with the exception of being a casual content creator.

Role description of Accessibility Officer - This person helps us ensure our communications projects are accessible to our community. Responsibilities include identifying areas and tools to improve accessibility; helping create meeting transcripts; writing alt-text for photos.

Role description of Content Creator - This person helps us create written content for blog posts, newsletter, tweets, and social media captions. The role also involves providing input on the design and delivery of social media campaigns. (*This can also be a casual position. For casual content inquiries, please email us at info@mlfpc.ca and include casual content creator in your subject line.)

Role description of Graphic Artist - This person uses their artistic and graphic design skills to create original content for our socials and website. We use Canva as an organization, but other graphic design expertise is more than welcome. Please let us know if you have any interest or experience with animation as well!

Role description of Photographer - This person helps us capture our events, activities, and our local food system as a whole through photos and videos. This role involves both taking and editing photos/videos.

Role description of Researcher - This person gathers events and resources to share. They also find credible research from a variety of sources, including academic articles. This role is vital for us to be plugged into our community and to share the best possible information.
