VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer: Community Harvest Program Volunteer
Organization: Ottawa Food Bank
Location: Ottawa, Ontario

During the growing and harvesting season the Ottawa Food Bank relies on volunteers to help will all aspects of farming process from planting, to weeding, to harvesting and processing.

Volunteers can come out on their own or in groups, as well they can come once or make a regular schedule of it.

The farm is located near Stittsville and not accessible by public transportation, so it’s important for volunteers to have arranged transportation to get there for their shifts, and the tasks can be physically demanding. The work is rewarding as volunteers gain experience growing fresh fruits and vegetables while they are playing an important role in providing produce to people who need it in our community.
