Positions: Board Member
Type: board members / volunteer
Organization: Ojibiikaan Indigenous Cultural Network
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Ojibiikaan was founded in 2018 addressing the gaps in the greater Toronto area related to Indigenous food sovereignty, such as food and nutrition education, sustainable food systems and practices, and traditional ecological knowledge.

Our programming is always centred on ceremony, offerings, songs and storytelling. We take a wholistic approach that centres and honors the land, have knowledge of protocols, ceremonies and ways of relating to the land.

Ojibiikaan also leads an EarlyON mobile gardening programming. It provides parents/caregivers with children 0-6, opportunities to build a relationship with our food, land, plants and animals across the city of Toronto.

In our gardening programs, families will:

  • Grow a garden using Indigenous knowledge
  • Learn traditional songs and ceremonies for growing
  • Build relationships with plants
  • Connect with the earth and with each other

  • Prior board experience
  • Indigenous community member with knowledge & understanding for the historical, cultural and social significance of our connection to the land.

Apply to join a committed, diverse and talented team, drawn from a wide variety of personal and professional backgrounds and Indigenous traditions! Please e-mail your resume and a brief covering letter to:
