Needed: Peer Mentors
Organization: Environmental Youth Alliance
Location: Vancouver, BC

Environmental Youth Alliance (EYA) is a non-profit based in East Vancouver on the unceded, shared territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. We empower youth from equity-deserving communities to become environmental stewards through land-based education and employment training programs that centre on native plant horticulture, ecological restoration, plant medicine, and community leadership.

Gain and develop skills in:

• Group facilitation and management
• Land-based education
• Youth work, including strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches
• Decolonizing practices & Indigenous ways of knowing
• Teamwork and communication
• Knowledge of native plants and wildlife
• Approximately 120 hours of practical experience working with young people

Dates: June 3rd - August 18th

• Skill-building workshops: Training weekend June 3 & 4, then weekly Wednesday evening sessions
• Peer Mentoring: Weekly program support, 1 day/week (days will depend on the program you are supporting)

For youth ages 18 - 25 who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, and/or living with a disability

Lunch provided & bus tickets available
Living stipend available

Locations:

Strathcona Community Gardens (759 Malkin Ave), Renfrew Ravine (3998 Renfrew St), and remote xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səl̓ílwətaɬ territory.
