Help Shape Better Workplaces and HR in Ontario

Summary: The Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA’s) Public Advisory Forum is a citizen-comprised advisory group that will meet two to three times a year to discuss your ideas, give feedback, and collaboratively develop solutions that can help shape the HR profession and, in turn, help transform workers’ lives and workplaces in Ontario for the better. What’s in it for you?

• Develop leadership and problem-solving skills
• Have a significant impact and contribution to HRPA’s strategies and policies aimed at reducing harm to the public stemming from the practice of the profession
• Understand and learn of the current happenings in the HR profession and the regulation of the HR profession in Ontario
• Network and work together with a diverse group of employees and employers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attending and contributing to Public Advisory Forum meetings – providing advice, guidance, and feedback on HRPA’s regulatory responses, proposed directions, and policies.
• Reviewing materials sent by HRPA, such as a draft policy, and providing feedback from a public perspective.
• Inform HRPA of critical concerns or risks of harm stemming from the practice of HR (i.e. unfair recruitment practices, workplace violence) and regulatory solutions to help mitigate the concerns/risks.

Qualifications:

We are looking for up to 10 members of the public with qualifications including:

• Employees or employers living in Ontario who work outside of the field of HR,
• Those who previously or currently have an HR department or HR-related staff member(s) where they work,
• Skills and experience in helping to inform and provide feedback on strategies, policies, and organizational direction, and
• A readiness to learn and understand HRPA’s mandate, strategic directions, mission, vision, and values.

Commitment:

• Length of Appointment is 1 year, with the option of renewal for up to five terms
• Forum members will meet 2-3 times a year for approximately 90-minute online meetings
