Position: GNN Fundraiser Coordinator Volunteer

Green Neighbours Network of Toronto (GNN) is seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to plan, organize, and coordinate fundraising activities and identify and engage prospective donors & sponsors.

About Green Neighbours Network

Launched in April 2018, GNN is a network of almost 50 independent community groups and over 700 individuals working together with a common goal: to help make Toronto a city of greener, more vibrant neighbourhoods and a leader in the worldwide urban movement against climate change. GNN inspires and coordinates collaboration among individual members and member groups, and fosters the development of new green groups. We recognize the urgency for global climate action, and our personal roles in it. We are planning our first fundraising campaign to help our members take action and to expand the Network across the city.

About the Role:


The position of GNN Fundraiser Coordinator involve a time commitment, on average, of 4-8 hours per week and will entail the following tasks:

  1. Organizing campaigns that will lead to donations
  2. Researching potential donors and sponsors
  3. Creating fundraising marketing and promotional materials
  4. Training and coordinating fundraising volunteers
  5. Creating and maintaining records of donors and sponsors

About the Potential Volunteer Candidate:

Qualifications and Personal Characteristics:

  1. Creativity and persuasion skills.
  2. Detail-oriented and resourceful.
  3. Good organizational skills.
  4. Leadership track record.
  5. Experience in a fundraising position is an asset.
  6. Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
  7. Relationship-building: Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of GNN.
  8. Commitment to fostering teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions.
  9. Organizational skills: Creating long term goals, setting priorities, developing a work schedule, monitoring progress toward goals.
  10. Commitment to support ethnic, geographical, age, ability and other diversity among GNN volunteers and members

Time Commitment:

On average, 4-8 hours per week for 6-month with possibility of extension.


The GNN Fundraiser Coordinator will follow an onboarding process and will be supported by the GNN Steering Committee members throughout the entire duration of their volunteer work.

About GNN Steering Committee

GNN is governed by a Steering Committee with responsibility for strategic direction, as well as overseeing outreach and mentoring, communications, volunteer recruitment, projects, partnerships, and finances. Steering Committee members are all unpaid volunteers. Guiding a new and emerging network, Steering Committee members are actively engaged in planning and development of exciting new strategies and projects.
